Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, James Mongkhonvilay was deeply influenced by his musician/painter father, who introduced James to his own world of art as soon as the boy could pick up a pencil. From there, James studied art at every opportunity, from elementary school until he graduated high school. As he was equally interested in film, James also took some classes in video production and film appreciation in high school.
Upon graduation, James opted for film school, where he met and became close friends with Patient #4479. During their time in school, they collaborated on several projects with the hope of future collaboration after graduation. After leaving Full Sail, James returned to Kansas City and worked in some local theatre, including the Hallmark in downtown Kansas City. When he got the call from Patient #4479 to become the official Joker Blogs artist, James was enthusiastically on board, enjoying the chance to collaborate with friend and classmate on a level that was always his first and best love.
Working on his own art and the art of the Joker Blogs has stirred in James the desire to return to school and fortify his degree in film with a degree in Industrial and Graphic Design. It’s his hope to combine the two and lay waste to Los Angeles with his boundless talent and vision. We hope we’re there to watch him do it when that day comes.
