The Joker Blogs - Episode 19 - Battle For Gotham City

The final episode of The Joker Blogs will feature a heart-pounding break out from
the GCPD, an explosive confrontation between Harley Quinn and the grieving Dr.
Jeremiah Arkham, a high-octane Batpod chase through downtown Gotham, a gratuitous
love scene with Joker and Harley Quinn, and the final confrontation of The Batman
and Patient 4479 atop Wayne Enterprises over the fate of Gotham…  Where one of them
will die!  All in eye-popping 3D!

Or… we could give you the appropriate and character-driven ending like we planned on
from the very first episode.

Sorry to get your hopes up.  But just like our favorite villain, we love a good joke
as well.

The official news is that The Joker Blogs is coming to an end.  By that we mean the
story that we set out to tell is coming full circle from the beginning with Therapy
Begins, to the break out of BRB, and now more recently with Shotgun Wedding.  That
finale will be followed up by two epilogues to wrap up all the loose ends.  It's
hard to do that in just one episode.  

Keep in mind the epilogues are just that.  Epilogues.  We feel that we had a finale
with a bigger ending than most movies.  We had a wedding, fireworks, a fight with
the antagonist and the protagonist, a police shoot out, and then we blew up a house.
 Apart from moving The Island through time while fighting off a Smoke Monster and
polar bears... what more could you ask for?

With the series wrapping up we all want to make sure that it's very satisfying.  Not
just for us as writers, but especially for fans that have watched it since the
beginning too.  Obviously, since this is in keeping with the Nolan-Universe Batman
Begins/The Dark Knight saga, we really don't want to let anyone down by going into
the far-fetched or a cartoonish story.  We want our Harleen Quinzel to be very
realistic.  Having a professional psychiatrist suddenly wake up and put on a bright
red and black Halloween costume and run a muck with a serial killer works great in
certain stories, but it's much more complicated in real life.  And of course this
story has nothing to do with love.  This isn't a love story.  This is obsession.
And that's far more devious, scary and complicated to tell.  And the Joker isn't
someone who has or needs a sidekick.  It's all for personal, selfish gain.  So we
can't promise that Dr. Quinzel will be swinging an over-sized mallet and talking
like she was born and raised in Brooklyn.  But what we can promise is this:  We have
a very satisfying ending in store that will be in keeping to the series and world we
have all come to love.

And we also want to make this clear.  It's impossible to put this much work into a
series and characters without thinking very seriously about 'What would happen
next?'  All right, fine, we lied.  We actually have it pretty well mapped out.  But
whether that will come as a direct 2nd Series depends on several factors.  We have
lots of other stories and projects that we want to tell and we can't wait to share
that with you.  And if the time and finances are available, we would love to bring a
2nd Season to YouTube in the future.  From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank
all of you for buying the ticket and taking this wild ride with us.  We hope you
won't forget us because we'll never, ever be able to forget you.
